COVID-19 Updates
The Housing Authority of the County of Santa Barbara (HASBARCO) continues in an effort to protect the Health and Safety of its residents and participants of the Housing Choice Voucher Program (HCV- Section 8) and HASBARCO employees and contractors. To that end, employees and contractors entering resident's units will use personal protective equipment appropriate to the COVID-19 pandemic.
At the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic, HASBARCO "paused" HCV Inspections and Inspections of HASBARCO owned or under HASBARCO Management. Given the Governor's orders "re-opening" the State of California, we are gradually scheduling inspections of HCV and HASBARCO units. Inspection Contractors and staff entering units will utilize social distancing and utilize personal protective equipment. It is important that units are inspected for health and safety reasons after such a long pause.
HASBARCO offices are OPEN by appointment only. However, residents and the general public are encouraged to communicate with us electronically, via email, the website or via telephone. Many telephones are answered by a live operator with an answering service and all such calls are logged, with calls returned by staff if requested by the caller.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a Public Health Emergency. It has also resulted in a financial crisis for many. Thus, at the beginning of the pandemic HASBARCO created highly visible Website "buttons" to make it easier to report income decreases. These can still be used and are below.
If subsidized residents or participants have gone back to work and/or income has increased, this must be reported to HASBARCO within ten (10) days. Reporting of stimulus funds is not a requirement. We urge you to report changes promptly in order to ensure that you are following rules and regulations.
If you are having trouble paying your rent, we urge you to contact your Housing Specialist or Manager to discuss options and resources available.
