MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL MEETING OF THE BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS OF THE HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE COUNTY OF SANTA BARBARA
January 21, 2022

As permitted under the Governor's Executive Order N-25-20, dated March 12, 2020, due to concerns of COVID-19 ("Executive Order"), the members of the Board of Commissioners will participate in the meeting via a teleconference connection at locations that may be located outside of the Agency's jurisdiction. Such locations shall not be publicly disclosed, nor shall such locations be open to the public as is expressly authorized by the Executive Order.

The Board of Commissioners of the Housing Authority of the County of Santa Barbara met in special session on January 21, 2022, via teleconference. Chair Pearson convened the meeting at 5:00 p.m.

Upon roll call the following Commissioners were present: Christian Alonso, Lisa Knox-Burns, Henry Mercado and James Pearson. Commissioner Robert Doyle was absent.

Also present were Bob Havlicek, Secretary/Executive Director, Jackie Bordon, Executive Secretary, Irene Melton, Director of Finance, Sanford Riggs, Director of Operations, and John Polanskey, Director of Development.


NEW BUSINESS:
Resolution No. 2970 - Authorizing Application to and participation in the HomeKey Program: Motel 6 at 1007 East Main Street, Santa Maria, CA. MOTION by Commissioner Mercado, seconded by Commissioner Alonso to adopt Resolution No. 2970. He Executive Director explained that this resolution was adopted by the Board in December, however, these revised resolutions include operating subsidy for the first three years, so the amount has been revised. He also stated that we do not currently have the full support of the City of Santa Maria for this project. All voted aye. Motion Carried.

Resolution No. 2971 - Authorizing Application to and participation in the HomeKey Program: Super 8 Motel at 6021 Hollister Avenue, Goleta, CA. MOTION by Commissioner Burns, seconded by Commissioner Alonso to adopt Resolution No. 2971. He Executive Director explained that this resolution was adopted by the Board in December, however, these revised resolutions include operating subsidy for the first three years, so the amount has been revised. He also reported that both the City of Goleta and the County of Santa Barbara support this project. John Polanskey noted that a Community Engagement Zoom Meeting for this project is scheduled for February 10, 2022; an invitation will be sent to all board members. All voted aye. Motion carried.

There being no further business to come before the board, MOTION by Commissioner Mercado, seconded by Commissioner Alonso to adjourn the meeting at 5:13 p.m. All Voted aye. Meeting adjourned.
