HOUSING AUTHORITY OF THE COUNTY OF SANTA BARBARA PUBLIC NOTICE
BY REFERRAL PROCESS FOR HOMELESS VETERANS ONLY

NOTIFICATION IS HEREBY GIVEN that EFFECTIVE April 8, 2020 at 8:00 am. The Housing Authority of the County of Santa Barbara will be accepting Pre-applications for The Residences at Depot Street Development for 0 & 1 bedroom units through a referral only process to establish a waiting list.

Qualifying individual or family who have served in active duty in the United States Armed Forces for a minimum of six (6) continuous months and, if separated from military service, received other than a dishonorable discharge. The veteran's preference will also be given to a spouse or a widow of a veteran (as defined above). Form DD214 will be required for verification.

Lacks a fixed, regular, and adequate nighttime residence, meaning:

  1. Has a primary nighttime residence that is a public or private place not meant for human habitation;
  2. Is living in a publicly or privately operated shelter designated to provide temporary living arrangements (including congregate shelters, transitional housing, and hotels and motels paid for by charitable organizations or by federal, state, and local government program); or
  3. Is exiting an institution and resided in an emergency shelter or place not meant for human habitation immediately before entering that institution.

Referring agencies are: Americorps, Behavioral Wellness, Chance, Inc., Domestic Violence Solutions, Good Samaritan, Home for Good Santa Barbara County, Hospitality House, New Beginnings, PATH, People Helping People, Salvation Army, St. Brigid Fellowship, Transition House.

All MUST be income eligible and meet all requirements for the Section 8 Program.

This Public Notice is being published to ensure that individuals and interested groups are fully aware of this action.

The Housing Authority will accept applications for this program regardless of race, color, creed, sex, familial status, national origin, age, handicap or other protected groups under state, f ederal or local equal opportunity laws.
